About The Project
Continued development of an educational serious game, Command & Control, designed to teach players about hospital management and critical thinking through decision-making.
During my internship, I contributed by improving gameplay systems, refining user interfaces, debugging existing features, and implementing cloud-based data handling using JSON and Google Apps Script. That experience taught me how to work within an existing codebase, collaborate with teammates, and adapt quickly to unfamiliar technologies
Responsibilities
- Debugged existing codebase (Solved major bugs)
- Improved existing and new UI flow. (Added more feedback from actions; Sounds, Fade Transitions)
- Updated player data collection.
- Created backend leaderboard integration. (Unity Request > Apps Script searches > sends back data)
Challenges
- Existing scripts had inconsistent naming conventions and dependencies.
- Had many unfamiliar topics I had to face throughout the development of the game.
Key Learning Points
- Using GitHub and Unity Version Control to collaborate using the same Unity Project.
- Learnt how to program using JavaScript.
- Data Management using Google Scripts, Google Apps Script, HTTP Requests and JSON.
- Learnt to cache data.
- Learnt AGILE Framework for dealing with Work.
- Learnt about Scene Management Tools in Unity Editor
Game Trailer
A serious game on hospital operations and logistics during an infectious disease outbreak, placing players in the role of the Head of Operations at an acute hospital.
The game is delivered through two gameplay modes.
In the simulation mode, players design the hospital layout and manage logistics across wards in a 2D hospital environment, balancing funds, manpower, procurement, and infrastructure to keep infection rates as low as possible.
In the scenario-based mode, players progress through a 7-week outbreak timeline via a text-based, branching decision system. Each week, critical choices across Procurement, Management, and Infrastructure shape the hospital’s ability to withstand the crisis.
Both modes emphasize rapid, resource-constrained decision-making and illustrate how operational choices impact hospital outcomes during a public health emergency.
