Trash Bashers Blog

Trash Bashers is a Race-to-the-End Styled Board Game with the theme of Sustainability.

Up to 4 players are able to play at a time.

Project Timeline: 5th May - 1st Aug

My Role:

  • In-charge of the Card Balancing and Resource token distribution.
  • Setting up the rules involving player movement and grid interactions.
  • Creating the 3D models for the Board, Player Pieces, and Interactive Board items.

Below, we will talk about the pieces I had modelled out for this project,

Player Pieces

Here are the Player Pieces.

The Top row is scrapped versions using broader themes, while the bottom row is the final Versions used in the game, themed after the R's.

Green represents the first R: 'Recycle' and was themed after Ecological conservation.

Blue represents the second R: 'Reuse' and was themed after energy conservation.

Red represents the Third R: 'Reduce' and was themed after hazardous materials.

Purple represents an extra R I had made up: 'Redistribute' and was themed after Unity, as in Community. Black was the general colour of the obstacles in the Present game.

Grid Items

Here are the Interactable Board Items. There are two categories: Obstacles that hinder player progression, and Power Items that aid players.

From the Left, we have the boss character and the general Obstacle Item. On the right, the Power Items. There were initial plans to have one power item for each player motif; however, due to Time constraints, I could only finish 3 power items.

Playing Board

Here we have the Board, a four-segmented piece held together using small jigsaw-esque tenons. Each board piece is square, with roughly 24cm for its length and 3cm for its depth.

This board is the result of my experimenting with gap tolerances and the restriction of not being able to print the board in one whole piece.
